CO2 laser has been the gold standard for facial/skin regeneration since the 1990’s. It is the only modality to effectively cause significant changes in skin texture, elimination of scars & wrinkles & to rejuvenate the collagen matrix & bring about revascularization of aging skin. It softens aged skin & tightens loose elastin fibrils. It can be used for “sun-worshippers” that are now paying for the “sins of their youth” In short- it can be used to tighten “creepy loose skin" and create lasting effects.
Problems arose when practitioners, not well-versed in laser wavelengths or non-surgical trained users, caused significant damage to their patients. Since then, Erbium & other less powerful lasers emerged on the market. These also had significantly less down time for the patients.
